As a teen, someone called me “Preppy”. I thought it meant I was prepared. We did not grow up with TV so the Saved by the Bell correlation took place years later.
The term technically implies a prep school student clad in certain garb (possibly monogrammed), put together & usually of class.
Perhaps Slater’s snarky, “Hey Preppy”, to Zach Morris, comes to mind. However, Slater’s term “Preppy” for the guy who “made it to the corner just in time to see the bus fly by,” does not correlate to preparation at all.
OK, so getting past the re-runs occurring in our minds, let’s think about preparation for a minute.
Preparation is KEY to winning at your plan & accomplishing your goals. You have to plan to win and prepare to win!
Remember that big interview? The night before you laid everything out, shined your shoes, touched up & printed off a crisp resume, studied up on the company, etc. Why? To be ready, confident – prepared!
Do YOUR goals get the same devotion? Do you prepare to win on YOUR plan? Winning at the game of life takes preparation!
It’s evening, and you are worn out. Laying out your gym bag, or making that shake can wait ’til morning. Come on, we’ve all been here, right?
Well, it’s time for energy! That’s right! Remember your commitment to win & WHY it’s so important to you! Splash some water on your face! Grab that bag, stuff some clothes in it, blend a shake (better yet, a couple while you’re at it), and place a glass of water next to your bed to kick start the ‘ole motor when the “opportunity clock” goes off!
Build preparation into your routine! Win at your plan & at life!
igniting energy…tim
Note:
Preppies are often mislabeled according to the urban dictionary as snobs:
“It is a common misconception that preppies are snobs. Many people view them as unapproachable, and as a result mislabel them. Preppies are not as rich as people may think they are, but they are often well off. They buy into classics rather than trends, and don’t change their lifestyles with fads.”
